About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at BC Cancer. As a Registered Nurse - Oncology Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our comprehensive cancer services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, including assessment, intervention, symptom management, and treatment coordination.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as required, and monitor patient reactions to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including health history, nursing assessments, and care evaluations.
  • Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, and refer them to other healthcare professionals and community services as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful environment for patients, families, and staff, adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR (Level C) certification.
  • One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills in oncology nursing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and maintain accurate records.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, with a focus on Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism.
