Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department team. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
About the RoleThe Physician Assistant will work under the delegation of a Supervising Physician to coordinate, provide, and evaluate care for patients registered in the Emergency Department. Primary responsibilities will include assessing and managing medium to high acuity patients, including those who may require admission, as well as low-acuity patients in our See and Treat area.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage medium to high acuity patients, including those who may require admission
- Apply clinical knowledge to care for ED patients assessed as CTAS level 4 and 5, with some CTAS level 3 patients as per established criteria
- Work as a lead medical provider in our innovative ED Fast Track Program
- Seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals
- Perform a complete and appropriate assessment of patients and formulate a differential diagnosis and clinical treatment plan
- Provide education to patients, families, and other health care professionals as appropriate to the clinical setting
- Facilitate coordination of the interdisciplinary team via referrals to appropriate health care providers authorized by the supervising physician
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Physician Assistant), Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant Degree, or Canadian Forces Health Services Physician Assistant Baccalaureate degree required
- Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency medicine and the Emergency Department patient
- Knowledge of Physician Assistant Scope of Practice, Delegation of Controlled Acts, and Medical Directives
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and policy requirements applicable to the organization
- Excellent time management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, team building, conflict resolution, decision-making, managing change, and group process
- Strong computer skills and technological aptitude
