Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department team at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services to our community.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and manage medium to high acuity patients, including those who may require admission, in our See and Treat area.
- Apply clinical knowledge to care for ED patients assessed as CTAS level 4 and 5, with some CTAS level 3 patients as per established criteria.
- Work as a lead medical provider in our innovative ED Fast Track Program.
- Seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals.
- Perform a complete and appropriate assessment of patients and formulate a differential diagnosis and clinical treatment plan through interviews, histories, and physical examinations.
- Provide education to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals as appropriate to the clinical setting.
- Facilitate coordination of the interdisciplinary team via referrals to appropriate healthcare providers authorized by the supervising physician.
- Bachelor of Science Degree (Physician Assistant), Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant Degree, or Canadian Forces Health Services Physician Assistant Baccalaureate degree required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency medicine and the Emergency Department patient.
- Knowledge of Physician Assistant Scope of Practice, Delegation of Controlled Acts, and Medical Directives.
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and policy requirements applicable to the organization.
- Excellent time management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated abilities in problem-solving, team building, conflict resolution, decision-making, managing change, and group process.
- Strong computer skills and technological aptitude.

- Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers.

- Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients, and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be dedicated to professional growth and development.
- Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
- Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the healthcare team.
