Position Summary

OPSIS is a leading Canadian enterprise established in 2004, dedicated to the management, operation, and maintenance of Water and Wastewater facilities. OPSIS is recognized as one of the largest private teams specializing in the treatment of Water and Wastewater.

We are currently seeking a certified Water and Wastewater Treatment Specialist for a full-time role. Candidates must hold a valid Level II or higher certification in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Collection Systems.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are essential for this role:

  • Operate and maintain a Level II Water Treatment, Distribution, and Wastewater Treatment & Collection system.
  • Report directly to the immediate Supervisor.
  • Prepare monthly reports as required by the Supervisor.
  • Conduct AEP reporting for Annual reports and Contraventions.
  • Assist the Supervisor during AEP annual inspections.
  • Perform maintenance on PRV and Air relief valves.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on hydrants.
  • Maintain and repair lift station pumps.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Miltonic systems.
  • Ensure general facility maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collect and analyze samples for testing.
  • Interpret processes and adjust based on laboratory results.
  • Perform minor maintenance on chemical injection systems.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment and online instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot process alarms and respond accordingly.
  • Compile and complete necessary reports and documentation.
  • Exhibit motivation, flexibility, and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and maintain positive relations with the public, office staff, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Promote a positive image of OPSIS.
  • Participate in the required on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
  • Level II certification in WT, WWT, WDS, WWC (preferred)
  • OIT or Level I certification in WT, WWT, WDS, WWC (mandatory)
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license; a driver's abstract will be required
  • Ability to lift 25 kg (55 lbs)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work with limited supervision
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
