Position Summary

OPSIS is a well-established Canadian entity focused on delivering comprehensive management, operational, and maintenance solutions for Water and Wastewater facilities. As a leading player in the industry, OPSIS is recognized for its extensive expertise in the operation of Water and Wastewater treatment plants.

We are currently seeking a certified Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator for a full-time role. Applicants must hold a valid Level II or higher certification in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Collection Systems.

Key Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain a Level II Water Treatment, Distribution, and Wastewater Treatment & Collection system.
  • Report directly to the immediate Supervisor.
  • Prepare monthly reports as required.
  • Assist with AEP reporting for annual reports and contraventions.
  • Support the Supervisor during AEP annual inspections.
  • Conduct maintenance on PRV and air relief valves.
  • Perform hydrant maintenance and repairs.
  • Carry out lift station pump maintenance and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Miltonic systems.
  • Maintain general facility upkeep and cleanliness.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collect and analyze water samples.
  • Interpret processes and adjust based on laboratory results.
  • Perform minor maintenance on chemical injection systems.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment and online instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot process alarms and respond accordingly.
  • Compile and finalize reports and necessary documentation.
  • Exhibit motivation, flexibility, and teamwork.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and maintain positive relationships with the public, office staff, colleagues, and contractors.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Promote a positive image of OPSIS.
  • Participate in the required on-call rotation.
Essential Qualifications
  • Level II certification in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment, Water Distribution, and Wastewater Collection (preferred)
  • OIT or Level I certification in the aforementioned areas (mandatory)
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license; a driver's abstract will be required
  • Capability to lift 25 kg (55 lbs)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities and capacity to work with limited supervision
  • Intermediate to advanced mechanical knowledge
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
