About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estate and Trust Planning Expert to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Wealth Strategy Team, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional client experiences and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive estate and trust planning strategies for our affluent clients, ensuring timely and insightful delivery of advanced planning guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including tax and insurance specialists, to drive business development and client engagement.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on estate and trust planning, including risk management, wealth management, philanthropy, family dynamics, tax planning, and insurance strategies.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry trends, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial laws and regulations.
  • Lead by example, fostering a high-performance team culture that prioritizes client satisfaction and business growth.
Requirements
  • Member in good standing of the Chambre des notaires du Québec or Quebec Bar association.
  • Proven experience in the estate and trust industry, including regulatory environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of competitive estate and trust market, including products, companies, taxation, and marketing concepts.
  • Detailed knowledge of estate and trust law, including Quebec Civil law, to resolve complex problems and provide guidance to staff and clients.
  • Demonstrated history of working with notaries/lawyers, advisors, and other trust professionals.
  • Dynamic written, presentation/public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and travel.
  • Fluency in both French and English required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) designation (TEP), or equivalent.
  • Diploma or master's degree in taxation.
  • Strong presentation skills, particularly related to financial matters.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdependent team and individually when required.
  • Proven skills and experience in building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, peers, and leadership.
