Position Overview:

The Clinical Informatics Project Leader will be instrumental in driving a significant digital transformation initiative at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre through the implementation of a new Health Information System (HIS).

This role is pivotal in enhancing patient care, optimizing workflows, and providing essential support to healthcare professionals.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Digital Health and Chief Information Officer, the Project Leader will spearhead the planning and execution of an Enterprise Health Information System, facilitating organizational change and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Employ project management methodologies to establish standards and execute tasks, ensuring deliverables are in sync with strategic plans.
  • Identify project requirements, evaluate environments, and create vital documentation, including project schedules and statements of work.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring the team meets project phase deliverables, promoting timely decision-making and completion focused on delivering clinical and business value.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the CIO and Directors of Clinical Informatics and IS & IT, to track milestones and critical paths, providing updates on project status.
  • Cultivate an environment that promotes active engagement in decision-making processes.
  • Participate in the procurement process for HIS technology solutions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of training and conversion strategies.
  • Guide the REACH Transformation offices, including managers and subject matter experts, ensuring project milestones are achieved.
  • Work closely with leaders at Sunnybrook HSC to facilitate the HIS implementation and transition to operational status.

Qualifications:
  • A university degree in business, project management, or a health-related field is preferred; a Master's degree (Health, MHSc, MBA) is an asset.
  • PMP certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in leading and successfully executing clinical transformation projects within a large healthcare organization.
  • Prior experience in leading a HIS implementation is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the healthcare or public sector is essential.
  • Proven track record in organizational transformation is required.
  • Ability to generate program-based metrics and status reports effectively.
  • Exceptional leadership and project management skills, with the capacity to lead large, complex teams.
  • Proven ability to navigate and work within various governance committees.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage a diverse workload with frequently changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills across multiple organizational levels and with external partners.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills with diverse audiences at all organizational levels.
