Position Summary

The HR Operations Leader plays a pivotal role in driving organizational change and achieving business objectives through exceptional interpersonal skills and comprehensive HR knowledge. Acting as a strategic partner to the General Manager, this position oversees the creation and execution of programs focused on employee relations, recruitment, talent management, succession planning, and compliance with regulatory standards. The HR Operations Leader is responsible for implementing HR policies that align with organizational goals and adhere to all relevant laws and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spearhead the execution of strategic HR initiatives aimed at enhancing employee development, talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, diversity, organizational growth, and performance evaluation for both unionized and non-unionized staff.
  • Ensure that HR priorities are aligned with operational strategies and focused on customer satisfaction.
  • Build and sustain a strong talent pipeline for various roles, including production, technical, and supervisory positions.
  • Initiate and manage cultural transformation projects to foster a collaborative workplace that reflects Windsor Salt's core values.
  • Provide expert guidance to department leaders on change management, identifying stakeholders, potential challenges, and communication strategies.
  • Offer personalized coaching to management on effective communication and leadership styles to facilitate departmental change.
  • Advise department leaders on HR processes and systems to enhance management capabilities within the local leadership team.
  • Act as the primary liaison for managing Employer/Union relations, including contract negotiations, grievance handling, and other labor relations activities.
  • Lead by example in ensuring compliance with Environmental, Safety, Health, and other regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local employment laws, providing updates to management and HR leadership as necessary.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on various topics, including orientation and compliance training.
  • Serve as a representative in the local community to strengthen communication and enhance the company's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
  • Oversee compliance with EHS standards, quality policies, and procedures, ensuring adherence to Food Safety Program principles and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Manage plant-related Workers Compensation claims, collaborating with relevant managers and ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management or as required by company objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of HR experience, preferably in a unionized setting.
  • Proven experience in collective bargaining agreement administration and negotiation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR practices, including talent acquisition, compensation, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning various in-house software applications.
  • Experience in analyzing and improving operational procedures and developing new strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse groups.
  • Awareness of industrial environments and the necessity for protective gear when required. This role may involve occasional travel and varied working hours.
