Your Opportunity:

Join a dynamic team in a specialized Chest Focused inpatient unit, where you will have the chance to enhance your skills and knowledge. This unit is dedicated to providing comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing Thoracic Surgery. You will develop advanced nursing competencies in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, while caring for critically ill Pulmonary Medicine and medical patients. Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Educators to gain invaluable learning experiences.

Role Overview:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will deliver a broad spectrum of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families.
  • Leading initiatives that support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
  • Providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while embodying the core values of Alberta Health Services.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse in the past five years, completion of the following courses is mandatory:

  • CRNA Medication Management - Chapters
  • NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification
