As an Orthopedic Nurse Specialist (NP), you will utilize advanced clinical skills that combine nursing and medical knowledge to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, and perform procedures to effectively meet the healthcare needs of patients.

With advanced education at the graduate level, Nurse Specialists significantly contribute to collaborative inter-professional care by employing advanced practice nursing competencies, including clinical practice, education, leadership, and research. They possess a broad and independent scope of practice, allowing them to provide a comprehensive range of healthcare services to individuals across all age groups. Nurse Specialists are accountable for practicing within the confines of their legal scope, regulatory standards, and healthcare governance documents, consistently pursuing continuous professional development and growth.

Position Responsibilities:

As a committed Nurse Specialist (NP), you will deliver a wide array of healthcare services to individuals of all ages. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Integrating clinical skills from both nursing and medical disciplines to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, recommend treatments, and perform procedures to effectively address patient healthcare needs.
  • Applying advanced nursing competencies in clinical practice, optimizing health systems, education, and research to enhance care quality, advocate for appropriate health service utilization, and positively influence healthcare systems.

Essential Qualifications:

Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program along with a master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is required.

Preferred Experience:

Prior experience in Orthopedics and as a Nurse Specialist is advantageous, though not mandatory for application. Active practice as a Nurse Specialist in a relevant acute care clinical environment within the past two years is preferred. Familiarity with Connect Care (Epic) and MS Office Suite is beneficial, as is experience in quality improvement and possession of quality improvement certification.
