As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is entrusted with delivering comprehensive patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership capabilities, collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and possess the ability to work autonomously. The CNS is expected to actively contribute to quality enhancement initiatives as outlined by the unit's quality council. A commitment to organized work practices and a proactive approach to educational growth are essential. Responsibilities also include coordinating care with Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Health Care Aides (HCAs), as well as other team members.
Description:
In the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will deliver a diverse range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, while prioritizing their safety and well-being. Your responsibilities will encompass the application of nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. You will also engage in teaching, counseling, and advocacy on behalf of patients and their families. This position entails a leadership role in fostering an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. You will ensure the provision of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, reflecting the core values and vision of Alberta Health Services. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). For those who have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of specific courses is mandatory.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to thrive in a dynamic, non-sedentary work environment. Capable of managing the physical demands of the role, including walking, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. Proven ability to operate at full scope of practice. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Experience working collaboratively within a large multidisciplinary team is required. Previous experience in a CoACT environment and acute medical nursing is preferred.
