Position Overview
The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) is seeking a qualified professional in the field of Molecular Pathology to enhance our Division of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology. This role involves working within a cutting-edge molecular oncology diagnostic laboratory that utilizes next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies to evaluate both solid and hematologic malignancies, contributing to the advancement of precision medicine and supporting clinical trials.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and be eligible for licensure by the relevant regulatory body. Additionally, certification from the Royal College of Physicians (Canada) in Anatomical Pathology or an equivalent board certification is required, along with board certification or eligibility in Molecular Pathology or Molecular Genetics.
The selected individual will be responsible for interpreting molecular pathology reports and will also engage in diagnostic pathology within their areas of expertise. Our division operates a subspecialty-based practice, handling a significant volume of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecological, and breast pathology cases, processing over 80,000 surgical pathology specimens and 20,000 cytology specimens annually.
Academic Engagement
The successful candidate will hold an academic appointment at the University of Ottawa and is expected to participate actively in collaborative research and educational initiatives. The rank will be determined based on experience, in accordance with university guidelines. Compensation and benefits align with the Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for pathologists in Ontario.
Additional Requirements
As a prerequisite for employment, all new hires will need to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
