About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Cornwall Animal Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional care and support to animals undergoing treatment and surgery, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgery, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under the direction of a veterinarian, adhering to strict protocols.
  • Counsel clients on animal health care, providing education and guidance on various aspects of pet care.
  • Conduct and assist in laboratory research, contributing to the advancement of veterinary knowledge.
  • Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry, ensuring the highest standards of care.
  • Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals, promoting their recovery and well-being.
Requirements
  • College/CEGEP education in a relevant field.
  • Experience in a veterinary setting is an asset, but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
