Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electromagnetic Design Specialist to join our multidisciplinary R&D team. As an EMC Design Specialist, you will play a critical role in the development of our products, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement electromagnetic compatibility solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D teams to design and develop electromagnetic compatibility solutions for our products.
  • Advise the R&D team on electromagnetic design best practices and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain testing environments and methodologies to simulate product operational environments.
  • Design and integrate EMI shielding solutions and antennas for wireless communication systems.
  • Lead physics and electromagnetic modeling and simulations as needed.
  • Develop and validate proofs of concept and early prototypes to ensure product design choices.
  • Review and ensure proper integration of antennas, EMI shielding, and signal integrity in electrical and mechanical designs.
  • Design and conduct experiments to troubleshoot antennas, EMI shielding, and signal integrity issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the development and validation phases.
  • Guide the R&D team on the selection and interpretation of applicable EMC standards.
  • Work with external laboratories for EMC testing and certification.
  • Train prototyping technicians on electromagnetic design principles and practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years of experience integrating and designing antennas and EMI shielding solutions.
  • Integration of radio-frequency components and experience with wireless devices.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and EMC/EMI issues using lab equipment.
  • Significant experience with EM simulation software.
  • Solid background in fundamental physics and electromagnetism.
  • Solid background in test engineering methodology, planning, reliability, data analysis, etc.
  • Working with complex, high-density, multi-layer PCBs.
  • Experience working closely with mechanical engineers and product designers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Analog circuit design and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Experience with medical devices.

  • Excellent communication skills in English and French.
  • Ability to efficiently communicate design ideas and solutions.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Autonomy and problem-solving mindset.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
