Payroll Operations Manager, HR Systems

Kassen is seeking an experienced Payroll Operations Manager to lead and enhance payroll functions across Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a robust operational background, ensuring payroll processes are accurate, timely, and compliant with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement a detailed payroll strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
- Manage the complete payroll cycle, including data handling, calculations, deductions, and tax submissions for employees in both Canada and the US.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local payroll tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance at all levels.
- Build and mentor a high-performing payroll team, focusing on coaching, development, and performance evaluation.
- Identify and execute opportunities to optimize payroll processes, improve efficiency, and minimize errors.
- Utilize payroll software effectively and suggest enhancements to improve functionality.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Establish and uphold strong internal controls to protect payroll data and mitigate risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- Over 5 years of progressive experience in payroll management, with a focus on both Canadian and US payroll.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian and US payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing payroll teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Proven track record of leading and implementing process improvements.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems.
