Job Summary

At Stevens E3, we are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing estimates, controlling expenditures, and evaluating the feasibility of meeting client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and Data Gathering
    • Review estimate requests, design drawings, and specifications with appropriate personnel to understand the project and gather necessary information.
    • Identify and gather information on labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and collaborating with other team members.
    • Obtain price quotes from vendors/suppliers.
  • Prepare Estimates
    • Complete timely and accurate estimates from floor plans, sketches, models, renderings, oral, and written descriptions, and other sources of information.
    • Break down projects into components as required by sales and/or the customer.
    • Maintain documentation and records to support projected costs of projects.
    • Keep current on changes in production methods, material, labor costs, and other standards.
    • Evaluate the feasibility of meeting client requirements.
    • Obtain quotes/estimates from sub-contractors.
  • Control Expenditures/Project Management
    • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
    • Prepare cost, expenditure statements, and forecasts at specified intervals for the duration of a project.
    • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
    • Liaise and consult with team members and prepare economic feasibility reports on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
    • Manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules.

Required Skills/Experience/Education

  • Knowledge of all phases of exhibit design and production (or similar industry) and pricing standards.
  • Ability to extract pertinent data from oral and written information and standard visual sources.
  • Completion of a secondary school and several years of experience as a qualified estimator in the construction trade.
  • Completion of a 3-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology.
  • Excellent mathematical skills, Excel skills, and related talents.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
