About the Role:
At Stevens E3, we are seeking a highly skilled Estimator to join our team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing estimates, controlling expenditures, and evaluating the feasibility of meeting client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and Data Gathering:
- Review estimate requests, design drawings, and specifications with appropriate personnel to understand the project and gather necessary information.
- Identify and gather information on labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and collaborating with other team members.
- Obtain price quotes from vendors/suppliers.
- Prepare Estimates:
- Complete timely and accurate estimates from floor plans, sketches, models, renderings, oral, and written descriptions, and other sources of information.
- Break down projects into components as required by sales and/or the customer.
- Maintain documentation and records to support projected costs of projects.
- Keep current on changes in production methods, material, labor costs, and other standards.
- Evaluate the feasibility of meeting client requirements.
- Obtain quotes/estimates from sub-contractors.
- Control Expenditures/Project Management:
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- Prepare cost, expenditure statements, and forecasts at specified intervals for the duration of a project.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Liaise and consult with team members and prepare economic feasibility reports on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules.
Required Skills/Experience/Education:
- Knowledge of all phases of exhibit design and production (or similar industry) and pricing standards.
- Ability to extract pertinent data from oral and written information and standard visual sources.
- Completion of a secondary school and several years of experience as a qualified estimator in the construction trade.
- Completion of a 3-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology.
- Excellent mathematical skills, Excel skills, and related talents.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
