Position Overview

BMO Financial Group is on the lookout for an Analyst with a strong background in real estate to join our Real Estate Fund team. This role will be pivotal in supporting our investment strategies and portfolio management efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough due diligence and analyze financial and operational data related to real estate development and investment transactions for the BMO Real Estate Fund;
  • Develop and sustain investment models (including DCF, residual value, development, waterfalls, etc.) utilizing Argus and Excel;
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis, leveraging external real estate data sources and brokerage reports;
  • Review and summarize limited partnership agreements and joint venture documentation;
  • Collaborate with BMO's accounting, legal, and other internal teams;
  • Track the performance of the existing investment portfolio and execute portfolio-level analysis and forecasting;
  • Prepare quarterly performance reports for presentation to the BMO Real Estate Fund Board and Investment Committee;
  • Create marketing materials and pitch books for prospective co-investment partners.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, ideally in real estate, finance, economics, commerce, mathematics, or engineering;
  • Completion or ongoing pursuit of a master's degree or professional designation (CFA, CPA, AACI) is advantageous;
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Argus Software;
  • Familiarity with Canadian residential and/or industrial real estate markets is a plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal abilities;
  • Outstanding organizational, time management, and multitasking skills;
  • Ability to perform well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail with competing deadlines;
  • Capability to work effectively both in a team setting and independently as needed;
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends when necessary.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in one or more of the following fields: private equity, real estate development, acquisitions, asset management, real estate investment banking, or real estate brokerage.

Compensation

Pay Type: Salaried
