Our Earth Sciences and Engineering division excels in site planning, spatial data analysis, digital terrain modeling, subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting, and water resource management through our specialized knowledge in geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development.
Hatch is currently seeking an Intermediate or Senior Civil Project Engineer to contribute to various ongoing initiatives from our Calgary office. This role involves executing general civil engineering and design tasks related to site preparation, grading, drainage, road construction, and paving for mining and heavy industrial projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Guide the civil project team to successfully complete assigned projects in areas such as bulk earthworks, site drainage, mine and plant roadways, and the design of earth and mine tailings structures.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control of design calculations and contract documentation.
- Assume responsibility for discipline practices within the defined project scope.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Ensure quality control through thorough checking and verification of drawings and calculations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Preferred: Licensed Engineer in the province of Alberta.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience (e.g., mining, energy, or infrastructure).
- Experience in site grading design.
- Proficiency in drainage design, storm sewer systems, and stormwater management.
- Expertise in road design.
- Knowledge of sanitary sewer systems design.
- Understanding of hydrology and hydraulics.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the design process, including the use of civil design software.
- Prior experience in bulk earthworks, site grading, storm drainage, access and haul roads, and earth structures for large-scale projects.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively allocate time.
- Experience in leading, mentoring, and motivating junior civil engineers.
- A dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills; self-motivated and prompt in project delivery.
