Environmental Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking a Full-Time Environmental Health and Safety Manager for our Whitby facility. The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will oversee the comprehensive safety of the facility by implementing top-tier safety programs, infrastructure, and training for all personnel. This position will also provide support for employee relations throughout various stages of the employee lifecycle.

Collaborate with all teams and departments to foster and enhance a robust safety culture aimed at achieving zero accidents. Lead investigations, in partnership with department and team leaders, into all safety incidents focusing on root cause analysis and the implementation of effective corrective actions. Manage relationships with safety and health-related vendors and suppliers. Act as a subject matter expert on safety compliance measures, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and oversight. Develop and implement policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions. Lead a cross-functional Safety Committee, ensuring active participation from a diverse group of employees across the organization. Coordinate safety-related audit programs and associated improvement initiatives. Assess training needs and develop a comprehensive program of internal and external courses that align with business requirements while complying with statutory health and safety standards. Participate as a member of the food safety team, integrating safety protocols into HACCP plans and procedures. Initiate safety awareness campaigns to cultivate a culture of safety within the facility. Organize, conduct, and continuously enhance new employee onboarding to create a positive initial experience with the company. Serve as an advisor to line management regarding the application of occupational health & safety and company policies in specific business decisions and performance management. Maintain accurate and current employee-related data. Stay informed about legal requirements and government reporting regulations that impact policies, procedures, and reporting. Address inquiries related to WSIB programs and educate employees on the benefits available to them.

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Business, or a related field is required; A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in an EHS-related role is essential. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, MOL, and MOE Regulations, along with other related regulatory requirements. Familiarity with food safety principles and regulations is advantageous. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications. Leadership and coaching capabilities. Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills for hazard identification and risk assessment.
