At GHD, we recognize the vital importance of environmental stewardship. Our commitment to sustainability drives us to seek individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on our planet. We are currently looking for an Environmental Waste Management Planner to enhance our operations.

Position Overview:

We are expanding our Canadian Operations and are in search of a skilled professional to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for innovative thinkers who thrive in dynamic environments. As part of our global team, you will engage in meaningful projects that promote sustainable practices and contribute to community development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conducting comprehensive policy analysis
  2. Leading the development of proposals for new initiatives
  3. Supporting project teams with necessary approvals and permits
  4. Compiling reports and drafting summaries
  5. Coordinating public consultation events
  6. Creating presentations for community meetings
  7. Reviewing reports from sub-consultants to ensure compliance with regulations
  8. Documenting meeting outcomes and preparing reports
  9. Managing various solid waste projects, including policy development, organics processing, and waste diversion strategies
  10. Providing technical input for solid waste management plans
  11. Engaging in public consultation efforts and developing accessible content
Qualifications and Skills:
  • A degree in environmental planning, policy, waste management, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the waste management sector
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal policies and regulations
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in the waste sector is advantageous
  • A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
