Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs and working in close collaboration with the Director of Compliance and Market Conduct, the selected candidate will serve as a key resource and primary contact for business stakeholders, offering expert advice and guidance on compliance, licensing, dealer quality assurance evaluations, and administrative support for legal matters. The key responsibilities include:

Compliance and Licensing Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all necessary licenses are maintained by distribution partners and internal personnel as applicable.
  • Collaborating with the development team to enhance controls and strengthen oversight of data integrity and accuracy.
  • Coordinating the implementation of corporate, industry, provincial, and federal policies and regulations.
  • Acting as a liaison with provincial regulatory bodies.
  • Identifying areas for improvement in compliance processes and recommending enhancements.
  • Advocating for the fair treatment of customers throughout all business operations.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of forms related to LGM's business and insurance licenses, along with any other administrative tasks as required.
  • Conducting objective compliance investigations as directed by the Director of Compliance and Market Conduct.
  • Preparing draft insurance license applications for both corporate and individual needs.

Dealer Quality Assurance Reviews:

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Compliance and Market Conduct, overseeing and verifying the insurance product offerings by LGM distributors in Quebec.
  • Conducting supervisory audits using predefined checklists and template forms to evaluate product knowledge, adherence to laws and regulations, and the fair treatment of customers.

Administrative Support for Legal Affairs:

  • Drafting legal correspondence and executing general administrative tasks as directed.
  • Preparing revisions to legal agreements under the supervision of the Vice President of Legal Affairs and Associate General Counsel.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in compliance-related functions.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with translation capabilities.
  • General and/or life insurance license is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the automotive dealership finance and sales operations is advantageous.
  • Established relationships with provincial regulators are beneficial.

  • Ability to critically assess facts and conflicting information, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Proficient in prioritizing competing tasks in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives and adapting to changing business needs.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to interpret and apply corporate policies, legislation, regulations, and related documentation.
  • Possessing a strong moral compass and the ability to communicate important matters with diplomacy.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with insurance license application processes and legal documentation drafting.

Desirable Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of the dealership insurance sales process.
  • Good understanding of the market and the role of Financial Services Managers.
  • Familiarity with products offered by LGM Financial Services is advantageous.
