About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team at Woodfibre Management Ltd. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of our overall regulatory compliance program, ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Compliance Monitoring and Reporting: Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability or risk and provide regular reports to the Compliance Manager and other internal stakeholders.
  • Inspections and Audits: Participate in inspections and audits of compliance programs and assist in proposing corrective actions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Management System: Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements, company practices, procedures, and programs, and assist in ensuring verification to satisfy those requirements.
  • Regulatory Management of Change (MOC) Process: Lead the administration of the MOC process for compliance validation, ensuring seamless integration with our compliance management system.
  • Compliance Tracking and Reporting: Oversee the maintenance and effectiveness of our compliance tracking system, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of compliance metrics.
  • Regulatory Compliance Dashboard: Track and maintain the regulatory compliance dashboard and compliance KPIs across departments, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Compliance Reporting: Assist in the development and filing of compliance reports consistent with applicable requirements, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to engage with regulatory agencies, external stakeholders, and Indigenous Groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree in an environmental discipline (e.g., environmental science, environmental engineering, biology, ecology, marine biology, or natural resource management).
  • Experience: At least 5 years' experience in a compliance role for large natural resource or infrastructure projects in Western Canada, or equivalent project, with a preference towards experience in British Columbia.
  • Skills: Exceptional research, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities within tight time frames; expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., Office 365, MS Teams, MS Visio, MS Project Control, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign) and document management systems (e.g., Aconex and iDocs).
  • Additional Requirements: Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse team environment; valid driver's license and passport; must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
