About the Role

The Pension Fund Administration team is responsible for managing and executing the processes that ensure accurate and timely benefit payments and contribution records. As a Senior Pension Fund Administrator, you will be integral in facilitating the pension payroll and managing funds from members and employers.

Collaboration

This position requires close collaboration with various internal and external teams to provide financial expertise, resolve complex issues, conduct data analysis, and prepare essential reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure precise gross to net calculations and timely pension payments in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Manage monthly payroll processing for pensioners and survivors, including necessary deductions and adjustments.
  • Reconcile and address discrepancies in database reports.
  • Review and rectify errors in pension service reports as per established schedules.
  • Implement spousal split agreements as required.
  • Maintain service delivery standards through effective prioritization and follow-up.
  • Assist payroll service providers in resolving ongoing issues related to payments and tax documentation.
  • Support retro payroll runs, monthly reconciliations, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in year-end processing and reconciliation tasks.
  • Assist in the annual inflation adjustment process for pensioners.
  • Stay updated with legislative changes and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accurate administration of employer remittances impacting financial and tax reporting.
  • Monitor and guide the Member Information Management team regarding payment processing.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in employer remittance payments through collaboration with Employer Relations.
  • Coordinate the application of Federation Strike Payments across departments.
  • Prepare journal entries related to employer remittance payments.
  • Conduct month-end reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data for accurate fund allocation.
  • Analyze data trends and consult with departments on any irregularities.
  • Communicate funding statuses to relevant departments to inform investment opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of compliance and audit reports.
  • Contribute to the annual preparation of government bills related to pension plans.
  • Engage in cross-departmental meetings to foster collaboration.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal procedures.
  • Facilitate training for new team members.
  • Provide coverage for the Pension Fund Administration Analyst or Administrator as needed.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in accounts receivable or payroll.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act and provincial legislation related to pension fund administration.
  • Strong accounting principles and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Adaptability to changing environments.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Teachers' Pension Act and internal processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within teams.
