Senior Pension Fund Administrator

Join our dynamic team at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, where we are dedicated to managing and overseeing the essential functions of pension fund administration.

Position Overview

The Pension Fund Administration team is responsible for ensuring the efficient processing and precise maintenance of benefit payments and contribution records. As a Senior Pension Fund Administrator, you will play a vital role in the accurate execution of pension payroll and the management of funds contributed by members and employers.

Collaborative Environment

This position involves close collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to provide financial expertise, address complex challenges, conduct data analysis, and prepare necessary reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate gross to net calculations and timely pension payments for beneficiaries in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Manage monthly payroll processes for pensioners, including necessary deductions and adjustments.
  • Reconcile and resolve discrepancies in database reports.
  • Review and amend errors in pension service reports as per established schedules.
  • Implement spousal split agreements as required.
  • Maintain service delivery standards by prioritizing tasks and following up effectively.
  • Assist payroll service providers in resolving ongoing issues related to payments and tax documentation.
  • Support the completion of retro payroll runs and monthly reconciliations.
  • Participate in year-end processing and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with annual inflation adjustments for pensioners.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate employer remittance administration activities.
  • Monitor and guide the Member Information Management team regarding payment processes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in employer remittance payments.
  • Coordinate Federation Strike Payments across departments.
  • Prepare journal entries related to employer remittance payments.
  • Conduct month-end reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data for accurate fund allocation.
  • Analyze data trends and consult with departments on irregularities.
  • Communicate financial statuses to relevant departments.
  • Assist in preparing compliance and audit reports.
  • Contribute to the annual preparation of government documentation.
  • Engage in cross-departmental meetings to foster collaboration.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal procedures.
  • Provide training and support to new team members.
  • Occasionally assist in member payment activities.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in accounts receivable or payroll.
  • Strong understanding of the Income Tax Act and provincial legislation related to pension fund administration.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles with a strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Capability to follow established procedures and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Teachers' Pension Act and internal processes.
  • Proven success in building and maintaining relationships within teams.
