Job Summary:

The Sales Representative position at Core-Mark Canada is a field-based sales role that requires a strong ability to develop and expand a designated sales region. As a Sales Representative, you will be responsible for selling our large portfolio of products and services to existing and new customers in Northern Alberta and Northern BC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Growth: Analyze individual customer needs and develop strategies to increase sales and profit margins.
  • Customer Onboarding: Prospect and onboard new customer accounts, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Product Knowledge: Educate customers on convenience and foodservice promotions, programs, marketing policies, service, delivery specifics, and industry activities.
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct sales presentations, including sample convenience and foodservice products, and new product promotions.
  • Territory Management: Execute on sales strategy and territory management, planning a sales approach customized with individual customers.
  • Account Management: Perform routine inspections of customers' product sections and displays, and update shelf tags as needed.
  • Relationship Building: Establish a personal relationship with customers to better understand their needs and requirements.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Review weekly/monthly reports with the store manager and assist with any opportunities that may arise.
  • Credit Management: Minimize accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for compliance with credit terms and following up on any issues.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory, particularly for products, to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Communication: Communicate changes in product line or marketplace that may be of concern to customers and to Core-Mark Canada.
  • Merchandise Returns: Assist with processing merchandise returns.

Requirements:

  • Sales Experience: Proven success with closing sales for a variety of product lines.
  • Organizational Skills: Detail-minded and organized, with an ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Travel Experience: Proven and successful sales ledger travel and effective time management experience.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to conduct professional, results-driven customer presentations.
  • Critical Thinking: Solutions-minded with an ability to analyze and critically evaluate situations.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to learn computer programs, systems, and new technology solutions as they relate to the position.
  • Microsoft Office: Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Energetic and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: General knowledge of food safety standards, including basic HACCP practice and cold-chain integrity, transporting of perishable foods, and maintaining Serv-Safe certification.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED.
  • Driver's License: A valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Vehicle Ownership: Must own a reliable vehicle with current insurance.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of previous experience in a customer-facing role.
