Position: Radiological Technologist II, Diagnostic Imaging X-Ray

Organization: PHSA

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and prioritize requisitions for radiographic examinations, ensuring compliance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes entering patient data into the radiology information system and addressing any missing or incomplete information by liaising with relevant personnel.
  • Coordinate patient transport to various departments as per established procedures.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by ensuring proper attire, explaining the process, and addressing any queries from patients and their families, while ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Conduct radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental protocols, verifying patient identity and examination details before commencing, and adhering to safety practices during imaging.
  • Process and evaluate images for technical and diagnostic quality, storing them appropriately.
  • Prepare necessary contrast agents for examinations, including tasks such as filling syringes and mixing solutions, while maintaining sterility and proper disposal of materials post-procedure.
  • Assist radiologists during fluoroscopic procedures by preparing patients, ensuring proper positioning, and verifying the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Execute radiographic examinations using appropriate immobilization devices as required.
  • Implement lead protection measures during procedures to safeguard patients.
  • Conduct forensic radiography examinations as instructed.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification from the CAMRT.
  • A minimum of two years of recent experience in pediatric imaging or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification in CPR.

Additional Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of medical imaging standards and guidelines established by relevant professional associations.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to imaging modalities.
  • Familiarity with organizational policies and standards of care.
  • Proficiency in safe operational procedures with radiological equipment.
  • Understanding of research methodologies.
  • Competence in PACS/Radiology Information Systems and digital imaging processes.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to manage conflict and work collaboratively.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively.
  • Physical capability to perform job-related duties.
  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous cultural safety.
