Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health as a Radiological Technologist

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Radiological Technologist to become part of the Computed Tomography team. This role is integral to our operations and involves working with advanced imaging technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct specialized imaging examinations in CT, adhering to departmental protocols and ensuring safe radiation practices.
  • Manage tasks such as:
    • Processing and fulfilling requisitions,
    • Inputting relevant information into the radiology information system,
    • Preparing examination trays and patients for procedures,
    • Operating computerized imaging equipment, including data processing and archiving,
    • Monitoring patients throughout procedures,
    • Ensuring optimal equipment performance.
  • May oversee evening, night, and weekend shifts and provide supervision to other Radiological Technologists.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Certification from the CAMRT.
  • Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography along with one year of relevant experience, including supervisory roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course as required.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough understanding of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners as set by the CAMRT and other relevant associations.
  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices related to imaging modalities.
  • Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe operational practices with imaging equipment.
  • Solid understanding of General Radiography and CT theory within a patient-centered care model.
  • Proficient in safe work procedures with radiology equipment.
  • Ability to conduct research and understand methodologies.
  • Proficient in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, digital imaging, and data archiving.
  • Capable of developing procedural protocols and manuals.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Adept at conflict resolution and guiding others.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective in planning and prioritizing workload in conjunction with team members.
  • Skilled in CT techniques and proficient with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Competent in CPR techniques.
  • Strong computer skills with current applications.
  • Physical capability to perform the responsibilities of the position.

The work schedule, including days off and work areas, may be adjusted based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
