About the Role

The University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Breast Imaging Technologist to join our team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. As a key member of our Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of transforming lives and communities through excellence in care, discovery, and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality Breast Imaging procedures using digital equipment in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Ensure digital quality assurance meets mammography accreditation standards.
  • Conduct screening and diagnostic mammography, breast interventional procedures, and other related tasks.
  • Provide respectful communication with patients and team members.
  • Participate in teaching and performing duties related to the job classification, as required.
  • Rotate to other Breast Imaging Corporate sites and work overtime, as needed.

Requirements

  • Current registration with the Canadian Medical and Radiation Technologists Regulator (CMRTO) and completion of annual required continuing education.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Previous Breast Imaging working experience with successful completion of Mammography 1 and 2 certificates from CAMRT.
  • Completed over 15 hours of continuing education in Mammography within the past 3 years and commitment to ongoing continuing education.
  • Completion of a Basic Life Support (BLS) program within the past 12 months or current Level II: Basic Rescuer certification.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate respectfully within a supportive team environment.
  • Demonstrate strong technical skills, multi-tasking, and utilize good judgment to ensure work is always performed in the best interest and safety of the patient and the team.
  • Ability to work accurately, safely, and efficiently in a fast-paced, high patient volume setting.
  • Ability to evaluate your quality of work and use both positive and negative feedback to self-improve.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including relevant and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Ability to learn new skills, adapt to process changes, and participate in teaching new staff and students.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
  • Effective computer skills and ability to review emails on a daily basis to maintain Department and Hospital communication.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience in Digital Mammography and Digital equipment quality control, preferred.
  • Previous working experience at an Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) Facility, including experience in performing OBSP digital quality control, preferred.
  • Previous working experience at a Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) Mammography Accredited Facility and a CAR Mammography approved member, preferred.
  • Previous breast ultrasound experience with DMS registration, preferred.
