Our client, a firm specializing in engineering projects, is on the lookout for a Financial Controller to join their team in Dorval. In this pivotal role, you will be a proactive contributor and the primary support for the President and the Accounting department.
As this is a newly established position reporting directly to the President/owner, your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and engaging in the execution of enhancement strategies as needed
- Preparing and reviewing monthly and annual financial reports along with supporting documentation
- Establishing and assessing internal control measures
- Creating KPIs, budgets, and forecasts
- Managing processes related to divisional accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset oversight
- Delivering insightful analysis of both direct and indirect operational expenses to Management
- Providing various ad-hoc financial reports upon request
- Guiding support staff on general accounting practices and financial reporting systems, policies, and requirements
- Overseeing the preparation of necessary government filings
- Supervising the year-end audit and liaising with external parties such as financial institutions
- Fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring staff awareness of company policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
- Possession of an accounting designation (CPA) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Background in manufacturing environments
- Strong analytical skills, self-motivated, and capable of working independently
- Hands-on mentality, autonomy, diplomacy, tenacity, attention to detail, and adaptability
- Excellent managerial abilities in supporting, training, and motivating team members
