Key Responsibilities

  • Become a trusted advisor to our tech clients and play a key role in their growth journey, with a focus on working with pre-seed and seed stage tech startups.
  • Provide financial solutions, strategic advice, and initiate introductions to people or businesses that can help our clients.
  • Apply a continuous-improvement approach to delivering a superior client experience.
  • Create deep and meaningful relationships with our clients, and prospective clients, ensuring their needs are prioritized at all times.
  • Build and maintain relationships in the startup ecosystem in the Ottawa, as well as Ontario North and East regions, with key players in the ecosystem, including accelerators, incubators, universities, VC funds, economic development institutions, etc.

Requirements

  • Passion for the tech sector and a desire to play a role in Canada's innovation economy.
  • Excitement for trying new things and embracing a constant state of improvement and innovation.
  • Technical capability, including comfort with data modeling and financial analysis, as well as marketing initiatives, startup frameworks and business models.
  • High level of empathy for the founders and startups we work with, and for the ever-changing unknown.
  • Some banking or financial analysis experience, ideally 1-2 years in commercial lending or business banking, or at a VC fund, or in a similar analytical role/capacity.
  • Understanding and thorough knowledge of the technology and innovation startup ecosystem in Ottawa, as well as Ontario North & East regions, and Canada and the US broadly, as well as an understanding of the startup company lifecycle journey, with a focus on accelerator/incubator startup creation through to pre-seed/seed stage and Series A venture capital raise.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an entrepreneur, launching a business, working in a start-up, or advising/mentoring and working with early stage tech startups at an accelerator, incubator, or innovation hub, and/or previously working at a venture capital fund.
  • Academic exposure through a post-secondary diploma/degree in commerce or business administration, or a sciences related degree and/or related experience.
  • This isn't your first time in a business development and/or client relationship management role.
