Job Overview:
The Operational Risk Lead is responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on the Operational Risk Management Program at Coast Capital. This role is tasked with developing, implementing, and supervising the operational management framework, which encompasses the practices utilized across the organization to manage operational risks effectively. The position provides essential policies, standards, methodologies, and controls that enhance transparency, accuracy, and consistency across all departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate reports for senior management regarding risks, controls, and risk treatment identified through the Operational Risk Management Program, including Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), Operational Risk Events, monitoring and testing, and oversight functions. Investigate and report on emerging risks by gathering information from both external and internal sources, and identify suitable strategies for addressing these risks. Conduct proactive research on risk management regulations and best practices relevant to the field. Promote education and facilitate training on operational risk management topics, particularly focusing on accountability for risk and control ownership at the business unit level and clarifying roles and responsibilities for the Three Lines of Defense. Review and refine Operational Risk Management Program processes, procedures, and tools, engaging stakeholders and communicating updates as necessary. Maintain an Internal Control and Process Mapping Inventory that outlines key entity and process-level controls for all business units and departments. Provide risk oversight, guidance, and expertise in various operational areas, including information security, project management, third-party management, products and marketing, human resources, back office operations, and information technology. Develop and maintain training materials for all subjects related to operational risk management. Collaborate with business units to understand and map their processes and associated controls. Review and challenge information submitted by business units regarding risk and control self-assessments and action plans. Work with business units to identify and evaluate risks and controls relevant to their functions, collaborating with leaders to formulate action plans for risk mitigation. Receive and investigate reports from business units regarding operational risk events, providing guidance and oversight on the identification, classification, and associated risk treatment until event closure. Maintain event data and populate risk events and issues information into Coast Capital's risk management software, ensuring tracking of action items.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in business or related fields. A risk designation or a willingness to obtain one is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A minimum of 7 to 9 years of relevant experience in Operational or Enterprise Risk Management, including conducting risk assessments, evaluating internal controls, monitoring and testing, incident response, project risk management, and developing risk management frameworks. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Expertise in risk assessment planning, execution, and reporting. Proficient in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and developing internal controls. Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with personnel at all levels. Highly organized and self-motivated. Excellent workshop facilitation and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to build effective relationships and maintain a client-focused approach.
