Senior Tax Consultant, Canada

As a Senior Tax Consultant, Canada , you will play a vital role within the Thomson Reuters global tax division, reporting directly to the Tax Director. You will collaborate with fellow tax professionals and engage with teams in Transfer Pricing, Treasury, Legal, and Finance. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of in-office and remote work.

This role is perfect for individuals who possess both tax expertise and technological acumen, along with a keen interest in developing and executing innovative strategies that integrate technology and artificial intelligence into the daily operations of a tax department.

Key Responsibilities
In this position as a Senior Tax Consultant, Canada , your responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Conducting comprehensive analyses of global reorganizations and various transactions, including the review and monitoring of tax attributes and considerations from a Canadian tax perspective.
  • Developing financial models and creating Excel-based templates, along with process automation utilizing data extracted from internal systems.
  • Overseeing the tracking and documentation of intercompany loans, surplus and cost basis calculations, loss balances, and the excluded property status of assets.
  • Preparing and supporting all Canadian tax compliance efforts, including tax returns and other necessary filings.
  • Compiling quarterly and annual income tax provisions using our tax reporting tools.
  • Assisting the tax team in managing all tax audit activities.
  • Regularly reviewing tax processes and procedures, providing recommendations for ongoing improvements.
  • Keeping abreast of current tax legislation, emerging developments, and industry trends.

Qualifications
You will be a strong candidate for the role of Senior Tax Consultant, Canada if your background includes:

  • A CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Canadian and international tax within a public accounting or corporate setting.
  • Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Tax Program.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical abilities with a capacity to interpret complex data sets.
  • Proven problem-solving and project management capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail.
