Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee various client-facing teams tasked with executing tax projects
  • Provide industry-specific and technical knowledge in taxation and assurance through client engagements, documentation, presentations, and high-caliber outputs
  • Assess current business practices and policies, advising on tax and policy modifications; develop proactive tax strategies that leverage business opportunities and ensure effective operations
  • Communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency and pertinent provincial authorities regarding client matters
  • Prepare necessary election forms for corporate restructuring
  • Support the management of personal and trust tax compliance periods
  • Manage a diverse client portfolio, understanding their operations, key risks, and avenues for delivering additional value; ensure client needs are met while fostering relationship growth
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling engagements, as well as overseeing project financials (including budgets, WIPS, timely invoicing, collections, and variance analysis)
  • Uphold high standards of quality control and apply specialized expertise to foresee, identify, and resolve issues pertinent to the client's business, financial records, and reports
  • Engage with the local business community, explore business development prospects, and assist in crafting and presenting competitive proposals to address client requirements
  • Contribute innovative ideas and methodologies to enhance work processes
  • Mentor and guide team members towards their professional and personal growth by establishing clear expectations, offering constructive feedback, and conducting performance evaluations
  • Maintain the flexibility to travel as required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Completion of Level 1 of the In-depth Tax Program and additional specialized training
  • 4 to 5 years of pertinent public accounting or tax advisory experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian Tax regulations
  • Strong grasp of business, accounting, management, and practice development principles
  • Demonstrated people management, relationship-building, and leadership capabilities
