Job Summary

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans for newborns, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
  2. Provide direct care to newborns, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring vital signs.
  3. Collaborate with primary care providers and specialists to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
  4. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practices in neonatal care.
  5. Communicate effectively with families, providing education and support to empower them to make informed decisions about their newborn's care.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a neonatal tertiary unit, with a focus on newborn care.
  • Completion of a post-basic Neonatal Nursing Program or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Rescuer (Level C) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) Certificates.
