This is an exciting NICU training opportunity at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH), located in New Westminster, BC. Fraser Health offers specialty nursing education sponsorship to new applicants, including new graduates nurses, or currently registered Nurses as part of our ongoing shared responsibility for professional development and safe, competent, ethical care.

The Neonatal program is 23 weeks long and consists of 12 weeks of online studies and 11 weeks of full time studies, which include classroom days and clinical placements. This program is offered in 3 intakes a year (Spring, Fall and Winter) through BCIT.
Responsibilities of the position:
• Assess patients and collect information from a variety of sources using skills of observation, communication, data review and physical assessment.
• Collaborate with patients and their families/care givers in developing the care plan and encourages family participation in the development, implementation and ongoing modification of the care plan.
• Participate in the care and discharge planning process for patients on admission by ensuring the care plan is established, implemented, and evaluated effectively.
• Coordinate nursing care for the patient; sets priorities, assigns and delegates tasks to support staff, and makes referrals to the interprofessional care team according to established protocols and practice standards.
Requirements:
• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Completion of the applicable post graduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the applicable post graduate specialty nursing courses/program.
• Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
