Position Overview

The Director of Initiatives for Indigenous Women's Empowerment at the Government of Alberta plays a pivotal role in enhancing the safety, security, and economic well-being of Indigenous women, girls, and 2S+ individuals. This position is responsible for spearheading initiatives aimed at addressing violence and promoting safety.

Key Duties Include:

  • Strategic Direction: Develop and execute programs aligned with the Alberta MMIWG Roadmap while overseeing the AIIP.
  • Program Oversight: Plan, implement, assess, and report on the effectiveness and outcomes of various initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: Foster and enhance partnerships with Indigenous communities, organizations, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Advisory Role: Provide informed strategic counsel to the Executive Director regarding issues affecting Indigenous women, girls, and 2S+ individuals.
