Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) Technical Consultant

CB Canada is seeking a qualified Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) Technical Consultant to support our clients in navigating their tax opportunities and responsibilities.

Role Overview

  • In our Tax Services division, we assist clients in optimizing their tax strategies and ensuring compliance.
  • Our integrated Canadian and international practices provide clients with comprehensive expert guidance.
  • We are recognized for our innovative approaches to tax reduction and efficient management of reporting obligations.
  • The SR&ED and Incentives team comprises dedicated professionals with diverse backgrounds in science, technology, tax accounting, and finance.
  • This team operates within a robust national framework, serving a prestigious client base.
  • Responsibilities include delivering SR&ED consulting services aligned with established quality standards.
  • Engage with client stakeholders to identify qualifying SR&ED projects and assist in the preparation of claims.
  • Conduct interviews with R&D project managers, researchers, engineers, and developers to determine eligible activities.
  • Collaborate with senior technical advisors to formulate compliant claim strategies.
  • Produce high-quality project descriptions and identify relevant supporting documentation.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a commercial or institutional development setting.
  • At least 2 years' experience in drafting SR&ED project descriptions.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a scientific discipline.
  • Strong ethical standards and business practices, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high-quality outputs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Client-focused with a solid understanding of client information needs.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong listening skills and adaptability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor and integrity in all interactions.
  • Understanding of research methodologies, competitive analysis, and analytics.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments with autonomy and superior needs assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in recruiting for Canadian Federal government roles.
  • Familiarity with GIS and MS Dynamics skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is advantageous.
