Position Overview:
Vancouver Coastal Health is on the lookout for an Indigenous Patient Navigator to become a vital part of our Indigenous Health Patient Experience team. In this position, you will collaborate with First Nations, Metis, and Inuit individuals and their families to effectively navigate the healthcare landscape, ensuring that care is delivered in a culturally safe and respectful manner. Reporting directly to the Director of Indigenous Patient Experience, your responsibilities will include connecting with clients, primary care teams, and community organizations to facilitate access to essential healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to program development that reflects the needs of Indigenous communities.
- Promote Indigenous Cultural Safety within healthcare practices.
- Advocate for equity and inclusion in healthcare services.
- Engage with clients to understand their unique healthcare needs.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance patient experiences.
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of experience working within Indigenous communities.
- Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or a related discipline.
- Understanding of health challenges faced by Indigenous populations.
- Ability to approach cultural matters with sensitivity and respect.
- Experience in Trauma-Informed Practice and Strengths-Based care methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with diverse groups.
