As a Commercial Auto Underwriting Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to assess and analyze extensive and intricate account applications to ascertain risk levels, coverage extent, and premium calculations. You will make informed decisions to accept or decline applications based on established guidelines, protocols, and company philosophies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Underwriting, quoting, and promoting new business, renewals, and endorsements in alignment with the company's underwriting principles, rating objectives, and service standards.
  • Engaging in negotiations regarding coverage and rates while participating in underwriting audits.
  • Completing essential documentation to support the business transactions you manage.
  • Fostering and maintaining constructive relationships with brokers.
  • Adopting a collaborative approach to achieve corporate and departmental goals, including premium and profitability targets.

Essential Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Auto Underwriting, with a proven track record in underwriting new business.
  • Experience in the auto and transportation sectors, focusing on medium to large accounts.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to build enduring relationships with broker partners.
