Job Summary

The Engineering Outreach Manager plays a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance and program development for all engineering outreach programs at Ontario Tech University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all engineering outreach programs, ensuring effective delivery and assessment.
  • Develop and submit funding proposals to secure resources for new, continuing, and expansion of outreach programs.
  • Provide leadership and support for donor relations and stewardship activities, fostering strong partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet reporting requirements and ensure compliance with funding agreements.
  • Represent the Engineering Outreach unit in outreach partnership committees and memberships, promoting the university's interests.
  • Lead Engineering Outreach personnel in developing and delivering programming for elementary and secondary school students and teachers, driving engagement and education.
  • Maintain high performance within the Engineering Outreach unit through effective hiring and supervision of staff, ensuring a skilled and motivated team.
  • Coordinate outreach activities related to undergraduate recruitment, enhancing the university's reputation and appeal.
  • Develop a clear communication plan and materials to promote outreach programs and activities, effectively reaching target audiences.
  • Work with the Faculty Budget Officer to manage the overall Engineering Outreach budget, tracking special accounts and procuring necessary resources.
  • Lead and support special projects related to engineering outreach and FEAS, driving innovation and excellence.
Requirements
  • Supervisory experience with excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels within the organization, effectively managing strategic goals and priorities.
  • Excellent coaching skills to guide and motivate team engagement and development, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships both inside and outside the organization, driving partnerships and growth.
  • Well-developed written communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact, with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with proficiency in using these tools to drive productivity and efficiency.
  • A minimum of three to five years of related experience in engineering outreach and/or management, with a strong track record of success.
  • Previous experience in fundraising, including grant writing and submissions, with a proven ability to secure resources.
  • Experience in stewardship of donated funds, ensuring effective management and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success in personnel supervision within a postsecondary environment, with a focus on developing and motivating high-performing teams.
