Emergency Department Registered Practical Nurse

The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is dedicated to serving the Simcoe County community by providing specialized medical services, including but not limited to: Stroke, Cardiac, Oncology, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Adult & Youth Mental Health. Our facility is recognized as a Level III Trauma Centre and caters to approximately 90,000 unique patient visits annually for emergency care.
As RVH continues to expand, we are implementing a capital plan that will double the size of our North Campus over the next decade, alongside the development of a new South Campus. Our esteemed workplace emphasizes growth and development opportunities, which include:
• A Mentorship Program designed to support novice emergency nurses and new graduates.
• Funding for Professional Development and Education.
We offer both Regular and Temporary positions, including Full-Time and Part-Time roles.
In the role of Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team that includes Physicians, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Geriatric Registered Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Phlebotomists. As an RPN, you will assess the needs of adult and pediatric patients in the Emergency Department, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for delivering quality patient care in accordance with RVH's philosophy, policies, and standards, as well as the regulations set forth by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
• A diploma in Registered Practical Nursing or equivalent education to practice at full scope.
• A current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Coronary Care 1 certification is considered an asset.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in emergency or acute medical/surgical nursing is preferred.
• A solid understanding of the nursing process and professional responsibilities.
• Membership in a professional association relevant to the nursing service area.
• Ability to function independently within the scope of practice as outlined by the CNO.

Please note that as a Regional Health Centre, our operations run 24/7 to provide essential patient care. Therefore, availability for weekdays, weekends, and all shifts—days, evenings, and nights—may be required depending on the program.
