Job Title: Instrumentation Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technologist to join our team at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). As an Instrumentation Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting the Combustion Research Facility (CRF) team within the Aerospace Research Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and operate various analytical instrumentation and equipment in the CRF's combustion test cells and research laboratories.
  • Execute calibration procedures for critical and non-critical instruments, ensuring adherence to NRC Aerospace ISO standards.
  • Assist in the design, development, and assembly of electronic and real-time computer hardware/software for control and measurement.
  • Provide technical expertise for defining requirements and selecting scientific instrumentation, components, and software.
Requirements:
  • 3-year College Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Process Control Engineering Technology.
  • Significant experience in experimental measurement techniques, signal conditioning/processing, and design, specification, and development of instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems hardware and software.
  • Basic experience using laboratory or industrial process programming languages (LabVIEW or PLC) to develop custom software and integrate hardware and data acquisition systems.
  • Basic experience in planning and implementing technical projects, including delegating tasks and developing cost estimates, status updates, and schedules.
