Key Responsibilities- Provide Resident Care
- Deliver nursing care to residents in accordance with established standards and principles, physicians' orders, and administrative policies.
- Monitor residents' health, note changes in condition, and assess the need for referral to doctors.
- Implement physician orders and ensure safe and accurate medication administration.
- Assess and Develop Care Plans
- Conduct thorough assessments of residents to identify their needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Review and evaluate care plans regularly to ensure they are effective and meet residents' changing needs.
- Lead and Supervise
- Supervise and direct the work of personal care staff assigned to the unit.
- Orient and train new personnel and participate in in-service education.
- Monitor performance and conduct performance appraisals.
- Collaborate with Interdisciplinary Teams
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and effective communication.
- Certification and Registration
- Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
- Education and Experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices.
- Experience interacting effectively with persons who have cognitive impairments.
- Previous experience working in Long Term Care in Ontario.
- Skills and Abilities
- Effective human relations skills and a demonstrated commitment to working with seniors.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to participate in workflow changes.
