Job Summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team on a casual basis. As an RPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents and contributing to the overall success of our long-term care facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide resident care in accordance with established nursing standards, principles, and administrative policies.
  • Assess residents' health needs and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Monitor residents' health status, note changes in condition, and refer to physicians as necessary.
  • Organize and direct functions related to the provision of care, including restorative care and palliative care.
  • Supervise and evaluate the work of personal care staff, orient and train new personnel, and participate in in-service education.
  • Ensure safe and accurate medication administration to residents.

Requirements

  • Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and healthcare practices, including infection control principles.
  • Experience interacting with residents who have cognitive impairments and knowledge of approaches like GPA and PIECES.
  • Previous experience working in long-term care in Ontario, with knowledge of standards of care and ability to uphold them.
  • Effective human relations skills and commitment to working with seniors.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
