About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Use Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Mental Health and Substance Use Services team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals and families affected by substance use disorders and mental illness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial Screening and Assessment: Perform initial screenings of referrals from various sources to determine the most appropriate treatment approach based on client needs and best practices.
  • Client Assessment and Support: Assess client needs by gathering information through phone interviews or other methods, and provide first-level intervention and support until formal treatment or further assessment can be conducted.
  • Treatment and Case Management: Provide treatment and case management for complex situations, including people in crisis, through the delivery of individual and group therapy, and the development and implementation of recovery-oriented treatment options and plans.
  • Linkages and Advocacy: Develop linkages with other facilities and community resources, and advocate on behalf of clients and others to improve access, integration, and coordination of mental health services.
  • Quality Improvement and Professional Development: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, and maintain current and relevant mental health and substance use practice through ongoing education and professional development.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Hold a Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program, such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work.
  • Experience: Bring a minimum of two (2) years of experience working closely with clients and families affected by mental illness and substance use disorders, demonstrating a commitment to their well-being.
