Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health. As a member of our Mental Health and Substance Use Services team, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals and families affected by substance use and mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide client-centered care through a trauma-informed approach and evidence-informed practice to individuals and families of the South Asian community.
  • Assess client needs, develop treatment plans, and provide follow-up support to ensure timely treatment and rapid re-engagement of clients.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to determine best approaches to care and assess the need for emergent crisis intervention.
  • Provide first-level intervention and support until formal treatment or further assessment can be conducted.
  • Develop and implement recovery-oriented treatment options and plans through collaboration with clients and natural supports.
  • Facilitate client utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs.
  • Provide referrals to community treatment alternatives and services, including residential programs, family therapy, and addiction treatment.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program.
  • Two years' recent related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant professional associations.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Punjabi/Hindi and English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach; concurrent disorders; addictions and addictions counselling.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and professional practice guidelines for the treatment of various disorders.
