We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Use Clinician to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our Mental Health and Substance Use Services, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to individuals and families affected by substance use disorders and mental illness.
Key Responsibilities- Initial Screening and Assessment: Perform initial screenings of referrals from healthcare providers, family members, and other sources to determine appropriate treatment based on client needs and best practices.
- Client Assessment and Support: Assess client needs by gathering information, seeking additional background information, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to determine the best approach to care.
- Treatment and Case Management: Provide first-level intervention and support, including short-term brief interventions, follow-up, monitoring, and evaluating treatment outcomes. Develop and implement recovery-oriented treatment options and plans through collaboration with clients and natural supports.
- Longitudinal Aftercare Services: Provide treatment/support through case management, individual counseling, and brokered connection to adjunct community services, including group therapy, addiction medicine, and recovery-oriented treatment options.
- Community Resource Development: Facilitate client utilization of appropriate community services and rehabilitative programs by researching available services, liaising with service providers, and providing advice and consultation to colleagues.
- Education and Support: Provide education to clients and families in accordance with theoretical models grounded in evidence-based practice, exploring identified problems, identifying goals, and suggesting positive behavior modifications.
- Record Keeping and Data Management: Maintain client records by recording information, preparing progress notes and reports, and ensuring access to and disclosure of information and records are in accordance with established standards and policies.
- Education: Master's Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program such as Counselling Psychology or Social Work.
- Experience: Two (2) years' recent related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach; concurrent disorders; addictions and addictions counselling. Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and professional practice guidelines for the treatment of various disorders.
