Position Overview:

Cenovus is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer to play a pivotal role within our Developments Engineering Department. This position is essential for driving value creation initiatives and managing development projects in the Atlantic Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and strategize opportunities to enhance Cenovus's value.
  • Utilize analytical skills to develop innovative solutions, considering broader implications across various functions.
  • Oversee the delivery of development projects through initial project stages.
  • Define scopes of work for contractor studies, ensuring effective management of study delivery.
  • Review and assure quality of work conducted by external engineering contractors through comprehensive peer and design reviews.
  • Prepare and present materials that effectively communicate study outcomes and evaluations.
  • Contribute to contracting strategies and bid processes for feasibility and conceptual studies.
  • Champion the application of Cenovus's Project Stage Gate Process.
  • Identify process improvements and apply lessons learned from previous projects to enhance future initiatives.
  • Provide technical support across the Atlantic Region and other business units.
  • Facilitate technical assurance for various projects.
  • Manage multiple projects while balancing competing priorities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required; Project Management training is a plus.
  • Experience with the stage gate process in oil and gas projects is essential.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in subsea tieback planning and execution.
  • Proven ability in preparing scopes of work and managing contractor resources.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with effective communication abilities to engage senior leadership.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams and external partners.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Labrador (PEGNL) is preferred.
