Position Overview:

As the Quality Assurance Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing organizational risk by ensuring adherence to industry regulations and internal policies. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising quality assurance protocols and spearheading initiatives for process enhancement. You will collaborate with diverse teams to assess and select vendors, conduct supplier evaluations, and uphold quality standards across the board. Additionally, you will maintain comprehensive records of quality metrics and provide consistent updates to senior management. Your effectiveness will be demonstrated through your ability to work in tandem with other departments and the Engineering Services leadership team to align quality objectives and address challenges. Furthermore, you will offer guidance through coaching and training sessions to improve the understanding of quality principles, standards, and best practices among engineering personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain processes aimed at defect prevention.
  • Direct the evaluation of Engineering Services activities to ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Supervise additional quality assurance activities such as inspections and testing to identify and rectify any discrepancies from quality benchmarks.
  • Guide team members in pinpointing areas for process enhancement.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with the outputs generated by the engineering services team.
  • Develop and mentor others in creating effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Management Team, External Engineering Management, and Supplier Quality Specialists to evaluate and select vendors based on quality performance and reliability.
  • Oversee routine audits of supplier processes and outputs to ensure consistent quality standards.
  • Conduct editorial reviews of Engineering Management Documents to ensure clarity and conciseness.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality-related activities, including self-assessments and inspection reports.
  • Provide regular updates to management on quality metrics, trends, and improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with various departments (such as supply management, operations, construction, project execution, and external service providers) to align quality objectives and resolve issues.
  • Lead and/or facilitate training sessions for engineering teams to enhance their understanding of quality principles, standards, and best practices.

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, effective for conveying information to both front-line staff and senior leadership.
  • Proven track record in designing and influencing organizational change.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Keen attention to detail in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical abilities.

Required Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in engineering roles.
  • At least 5 years of experience in quality assessments or audits.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing quality programs for engineering teams.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas sector, lean six sigma green or black belt certifications, and leadership or management of engineering teams will be considered an asset.
